Bookkeeping Services

Please reach us at kim@highpointbookkeeing.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I provide monthly bookkeeping services tailored to small business owners. This includes GST, payroll, WCB, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting. I also offer clean-up and catch-up bookkeeping when needed. I do not prepare personal or corporate income tax returns

I do not provide personal or corporate income tax preparation or tax planning. However, I do handle all ongoing bookkeeping-related compliance, including GST filings, payroll source deductions, WCB remittances, and year-end summaries such as T4s, T4As, and T5018s. I work alongside accountants and can refer you to a trusted tax professional when needed.

Yes—clean-up and catch-up work is a core part of what I do. Whether you're behind a few months or a few years, I’ll meet you where you’re at and help get your books back on track. There’s never any judgment—just a clear plan to move forward with confidence.

Yes—this is a non-negotiable requirement for working together. While your business does not need to be incorporated, you must have a separate bank account and credit card for business activity. I do not work with clients who mix personal and business transactions. It compromises the accuracy of your financial records, creates confusion, and increases the time (and cost) involved.

Monthly bookkeeping starts at $200 and is billed at a fixed monthly rate—no hourly billing and no surprise charges. The fee depends on the complexity and volume of your business activity.

All bookkeeping clients are set up on automatic monthly payments through Rotessa, a secure Canadian preauthorized debit processor. This keeps things simple for both of us and eliminates the need for manual invoicing or follow-ups. Enrollment is required before services begin.

I’ve worked with a wide range of businesses including construction, trades, retail, and service-based businesses. Whether you’re a solo operator or managing a growing team, I tailor my approach to meet your specific needs and keep your financial records working for you.

I work virtually with clients, allowing for flexible scheduling and efficient communication. All tools and materials are digital, and support is provided via phone, email, or video call.

I primarily use QuickBooks Online (QBO), Xero, and Hubdoc for document collection and receipt management. If you're not already set up on one of these platforms, I can help with onboarding and migration.

I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Thompson Rivers University. I earned my CMA designation (Certified Management Accountant) in 2003 and trained with one of the top 5 global accounting firms. My background combines formal education with hands-on experience, giving me a strong foundation in both financial strategy and day-to-day business operations.

Yes — I carry Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance to protect both myself and my clients. I also maintain my own WCB (Workers’ Compensation Board) coverage. In addition, I have a cyber liability insurance policy and use multiple security tools and protocols to protect sensitive financial data. Keeping your business information secure is a top priority.

No. I don’t require long-term commitments — I believe in letting the quality of my work speak for itself. If at any point it’s not a good fit, I ask for (and offer) 30 days' notice so we can wrap things up professionally and ensure a smooth transition.

Yes — if you’re already working with tax accountant, I’m happy to collaborate with them. My role is to help you understand and use the financial information you’re already collecting.

in control program

Please reach us at kim@highpointbookkeeping.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

In Control is a 12-week, one-on-one advisory program for small business owners who feel like their operations have outgrown their systems. We meet for one focused hour each week to cover practical topics like financial statement reviews, managing cash flow, documenting internal processes, and making confident business decisions. The program is designed to help you get organized, understand your numbers, and lead with more control and confidence.

The full program fee is $2,400, paid in full before the first session. This includes all sessions, support materials, and access to email support between sessions.

The program is delivered remotely through weekly one-on-one telephone calls and email support. You don’t need any special software—just a phone, your email, and a commitment to showing up for one focused hour each week. All worksheets and resources are provided digitally and are easy to access and complete.

Before we begin, you’ll receive a welcome email with a short intake form to help tailor the program to your business. From there, everything is designed to be manageable—each week includes 15 minutes of pre-work and a 45-minute phone call.

Just one hour. Each session includes about 15 minutes of pre-work and a 45-minute structured call. This hour is your focused time to work on your business, not just in it.

Yes. While the overall structure is consistent, the conversation and focus are customized to your business, your stage of growth, and your most pressing needs. We’ll prioritize what matters most to you while still covering core areas like cash flow, processes, and reporting.

Yes and no.  While the word coaching can sometimes suggest a focus on personal development, this program is different. In Control is a practical, results-driven program designed to help you take control of your business operations and finances. Each week, you’ll get structured guidance, accountability, and actionable tools that lead to real, measurable progress.

No! This program is designed specifically for business owners who don’t have a financial background. You don’t need to love spreadsheets or know accounting terms—I walk you through each topic in plain language, focusing on what’s relevant and useful. My goal isn’t to turn you into a bookkeeper, but to help you become a confident user of your books.

In Control is designed for established small business owners—typically with under

$1 million in annual sales, a team of 3 or more staff, and at least a few years in business. It’s best suited for those who are ready to dedicate one focused hour each week to work on their business, not just in it.

The ideal participant already works with a professional bookkeeper—rather than relying on a spouse, family member, or doing it themselves. Clean, up-to-date books are essential to making the most of our time together.

If you’re not quite ready to invest the time, take small weekly actions, or reflect honestly on what’s working (and what’s not), this might not be the right time for the program. It’s also not a fit if you’re looking for tax advice or hands-on financial management—this program is about building knowledge, structure, and momentum with the support of a trusted advisor.

That’s okay—it just means the In Control Program might not be the right starting point. This program is built around using your financial information to make confident business decisions, so accurate, up-to-date books are essential.

If your books need some work first, I offer clean-up and catch-up bookkeeping services to help get you ready. Once your records are in order, we can revisit whether In Control is the next best step for you.

  • Before the Program Begins
A full (100%) refund is available if cancellation occurs more than 48 hours before the first scheduled session and no sessions have taken place.
  • After the First Session
If, after the first session, you feel the program isn’t the right fit or there isn’t a strong connection, a full (100%) refund will still be provided—no hard feelings.
  • After the Second Session
If it still doesn’t feel like the right fit after two sessions, a partial refund of 75% is available.
  • After the Third Session
At this point, the program is considered fully underway and no refunds will be issued.

This policy is designed to give you time to make a thoughtful decision while also respecting the time, structure, and energy invested in your coaching experience.  This program is results-driven and built to deliver value from Day 1—but ultimately, your success depends on your participation, follow-through, and engagement. Because the full structure, tools, and guidance are delivered across the 12-week program, refunds are not available after the third session, regardless of overall satisfaction. If at any point you feel stuck or unsure, please speak up—I’m here to support you and adjust where needed.

We’ll start with a brief conversation to talk about your business, where you’re feeling stuck, and what kind of support you're looking for. From there, I’ll recommend a path forward — whether that’s a one-time review, my In Control program, or ongoing bookkeeping support.

No. You’re encouraged to keep your existing bookkeeper or accountant. The In Control program is designed to help you understand and use your financial information — not to replace your current bookkeeping setup. If you're unsure about the accuracy of your records, we can review them together or coordinate with your bookkeeper as needed.
